The Bowen (and Malowney) family has been involved in the history of Jasper since the earliest days of Jasper National Park.

Mr. Hector Bowen: part of the construction crew of the original Jasper Park Lodge, 1923, D.J.'s grandfather.

The next generation in the Bowen family is famous for exploits in the early days of skiing and as operators of the world famous "Mallowney's British Woollens" after the WWII.


By the time DJ was entering his 20's he was already demonstrating his inherited talents in retail. His "Moon Street" counter-culture clothing store defined its genre in the late 60's, early 70's.

So very hip.
